Yvette was born and raised in Southwest Georgia. She held a variety of jobs before discovering how much she loved working with children. She worked as a teacher at Porterfield Day School for four years, and became the director of PDS in 2004. Yvette is married to Al Armstrong, and they have two children. (along with what she calls “a very needy Springer Spaniel" named Walter) She plays tennis at least once a week, and has a “secret addiction” to the computer game, “Plants vs. Zombies.”
