K.O.O.L. Studios
Welcome to Elementary Sunday school! We call our Sunday school K.O.O.L. Studios, which stands for Kids Of Our Lord. Kindergartners through 5th graders participate in this workshop rotation model program. That means that children learn the Bible stories through different experiential workshops—games/music, drama, video, computer, art/science, and cooking. Each week, the children visit a different workshop to hear the story in a different way and then participate in activities that address different learning styles. Through the course of the “rotation” (the length of time the same story is taught—from 4-6 weeks), the children will learn the story from different angles so that there is also a depth of teaching and learning not possible in other types of classroom instruction. Although this is all very educational, it is really about the children making the story theirs—they learn the story and what the story means to them in their daily lives.
